Can I change udk path and set different udk executable?

May 24, 2012 at 1:26 AM

I manage several udk folders and have custom projects

1. Can I change udk path without reinstalling the Unreal Script IDE?

2. I want use custom project executables (udkgame.exe, [projectname].exe) instead of udk.exe

Are there any ways to do these things?

Is it already possible to change the udk path in the current version or is it still in development?

I'd love to see this feature.

There isn't a pretty way currently to change the path (Which I found frustrating, as I constantly work on 2 or more branches at a time).

So after some digging around I came up with the following solution:

Create a YOURGAME.reg (Using notepad++ or whatever) containing the following:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mr O. Duzhar]
"UDKPath"="D:\\UDKPATH\\Binaries\\Win32\\"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mr O. Duzhar]
"UDKPath"="D:\\UDKPATH\\Development\\Src"

Then create a .bat file with the following:

regedit /s YOURGAME.reg

Change UDKPATH and YOURGAME to whatever is right for you.

Make one of these for each path and you should be good to go. Just close the IDE and run the correct bat (or shortcut to it) when you want to change the path.

(You could also make it a self-contained reg script, i'm just lazy.)

NOTE TO ALEXDEV: Please fix this or release the source. (So I can fix it XD ) it should be nicer handling multiple UDK directories. Was one of the first things I tried to do, and couldn't.
